The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has requested court approval to access the Bitcoin trading platform used by Armaghan Qureshi, the prime accused in the Mustafa Amir murder case, as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.

During a hearing on Wednesday, the FIA urged the court to direct trading platforms to provide details of Armaghan’s accounts, transactions, trading history, and IP addresses.

The agency stated that the suspect allegedly created accounts under the names of his two employees.

The court has also sought information from foreign cryptocurrency trading companies regarding the case.

Armaghan is already facing separate charges of money laundering and fraud.

An FIR registered by the FIA’s Anti-Money Laundering Circle accuses him of involvement in illegal financial activities, including hawala-hundi and digital currency transactions.

Armaghan, who is currently in judicial custody, is also accused of the kidnapping and murder of Mustafa Amir.

The case came to light after he allegedly opened fire at a Karachi police Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) team during a raid at his residence in DHA earlier this month.

Mustafa Amir’s body was later recovered from a car near the Hub checkpoint on January 12 and identified through DNA testing.

Additionally, Armaghan is accused of supplying drugs to hundreds of youths and allegedly subjecting several individuals to torture.

Meanwhile, a local court recently rejected Armaghan’s request to record his confessional statement, citing concerns about his mental state.

The court noted that he appeared inconsistent, alternating between confessing and refusing to provide a statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
