The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Friday that a depression over the southeast Arabian Sea has shifted north-northeastward over the past 24 hours, posing no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas as it continues to move across the east-central Arabian Sea.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the depression over the southeast Arabian Sea has moved north-northeastward during the past 24 hours and is now centered near Latitude 13.3°N and Longitude 70.5°E, approximately 1,340 kilometers southeast of Karachi and 340 kilometers northwest of Lakshadweep, India, over the eastern Arabian Sea.
The PMD stated that the system is expected to continue moving in a north-northeasterly direction across the east-central Arabian Sea over the next 24 hours.

At present, there is no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas, the department confirmed. The Cyclone Warning Centre in Karachi continues to closely monitor the system and will keep relevant authorities informed of any significant developments.
Earlier in October, a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea had intensified into a depression, causing rough sea conditions and high waves due to increased atmospheric activity. The weather system later strengthened further, developing into a cyclone named “Shakti.”
