Senior journalist Mansoor Ali Khan has questioned the long-term implications of the latest press conference by the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), asking whether future leaders may eventually view it as a “mistake.”

Mansoor Ali Khan said he, like many others, initially felt confused by the omission of a direct reference. He noted that this was not the first time political figures had been labelled security threats.

“Fatima Jinnah, Benazir Bhutto, and Nawaz Sharif were also branded as security threats or traitors at different points in history,” he said.

“The same podium from where a person is being declared a security threat today had declared him the ‘best leader’ some seven to eight years ago.”

He questioned whether history was repeating itself.

Responding to the critique, the DG ISPR maintained that the stance presented at the press conference was unprecedented in its clarity.

“The armed forces have never maintained such a clear and strong narrative against any individual before,” the spokesperson said. “But now the time has come to say it clearly.”

Earlier, the DG ISPR began the press conference by congratulating the nation on the establishment of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) headquarters following the appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as the CDF.

The head of the military's media wing said that conflicts now span multiple domains beyond traditional land, sea, and air operations.

“To achieve efficiency, effectiveness, and economy of effort, the CDF headquarters was a long-awaited essential requirement," the DG ISPR said. "This is not unique to Pakistan as more than 70 countries around the world maintain integrated headquarters for their chiefs of defence,” he added.

Without naming PTI founder Imran Khan, he said that the "delusional person has become the prisoner of his own ego". "His ego and disappointment have increased to such a level that he believes the world would stop existing without him."
