An e-challan was issued to the official vehicle of Karachi’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic, Pir Muhammad Shah, for a seat belt violation near Garden area, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
DIG Shah verified the incident, stating that the vehicle was being driven by his official driver at the time. “The e-challan of Rs10,000 was issued for not wearing a seat belt,” he said, adding that he intends to pay the fine.
The senior police officer clarified that the vehicle is registered under the Sindh Police Central Police Office (CPO) address. He also confirmed that disciplinary action has been taken against the driver.

“I have strictly instructed the driver to always wear a seat belt while driving,” DIG Shah said, emphasising that traffic laws apply equally to all citizens, including law enforcement officials.
