The Sindh government is going to introduce double-decker buses in Karachi from next week, Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Monday.

He chaired a high-level meeting to review progress on the Yellow Line and Red Line BRT projects. During the meeting, officials shared updates on the planned EV taxi service and the second phase of the Pink Scooties scheme.

Memon said he expected the new double-decker buses and EV buses to arrive in Karachi within the coming week. He added that the government was “set to open the double-decker route for Karachi residents and launch new EV bus routes as well.”

He further stated that Sindh aims to roll out the EV taxi service by December and intends to bring in another 500 buses during the current financial year. The minister also noted that new routes of the Peoples Bus Service would soon be launched in other districts of Sindh.

During the meeting, Memon directed transport authorities to complete all operational preparations for the upcoming routes.
