The Ministry of Interior has imposed an immediate nationwide ban on outdoor flying of drones, quadcopters and UAVs, claiming that the prevailing security environment demands curbing aerial threats until further notice.

According to a formal notification, the ministry directed all provincial governments and the law enforcement agencies to strictly enforce the ban, warning that violations will be met with strict action.

Furthermore, the ban covers recreational, private and commercial drone operations throughout Pakistan, including Punjab, Sindh, KP, Balochistan, GB and AJK.

The ban comes after increasing tensions along the western border and recent drone-related security incidents. In Bannu, KP, an unidentified quadcopter dropped explosive material on a mosque around iftar time, injuring five worshippers.

The CTD officials reported, rescue teams took the injured to hospital, where officials confirmed they were out of danger, while police and security forces sealed the area and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, provincial administrations have been instructed to coordinate with police and district officials for strict implementation.
