A major development has emerged in the investigation into the Gul Plaza tragedy, with three digital video recorders (DVRs) recovered from the debris.

According to sources, the Urban Search and Rescue team retrieved three DVRs during clearance operations at the Gul Plaza site.

Sources said the DVRs, along with a charger, were found in a room near the mosque within the Gul Plaza premises.

According to officials, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has handed over the recovered DVRs to the Deputy Commissioner South.

The footage from these DVRs is expected to provide crucial evidence regarding the causes of the Gul Plaza incident.

Authorities said search and rescue operations are continuing at the affected building under strict safety measures.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government has decided to reconstruct Gul Plaza, which was severely damaged in a recent fire, the sources said.

Sources said the Sindh government will fund the reconstruction from its own budget, and the rebuilding of the multi-storey Gul Plaza is expected to be completed within one year.

According to sources, once construction is completed, the shops will be returned to the original allottees.

Until the reconstruction is completed, affected traders will be provided with temporary business locations. The Sindh government has identified three sites for the temporary relocation of businesses affected by the Gul Plaza incident.
