At least eight people died in different parts of Karachi on Monday as a severe heatwave gripped the city, rescue officials said.
Four of the deceased were said to be drug addicts, they said.
Rescue sources said that four people, who were brought to hospitals in critical condition, later died, while two deaths were confirmed to be caused by heatstroke.
Bodies were brought from multiple areas in the city. One man was found dead near the Clifton Boat Basin area, while another body was found beneath the Liaquatabad No. 10 bridge. One body was also brought from Jamali Pull on the Super Highway and in Surjani, where a victim was identified as 50-year-old Dur Muhammad.
Separately, a body was found near Khayaban-e-Saadi in Defence Phase VIII, while another deceased, identified as 55-year-old Abdul Wadood, was reported near Sparco Road in Baldia Town.
Rescue officials also reported recovering the bodies of drug addicts from Manghopir and near Noor Hotel in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
