Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed said on Friday that several institutions were attempting to interfere in the court matters and that the "establishment’s inference in judicial affairs would end soon".
Addressing a ceremony in Rawalpindi, Justice Ahmed noted that the inference started with the Moulvi Tamizuddin case and that collective efforts are needed to get rid of this interference.
“Our judiciary is serving without fear or greed,” he said.
CJ LHC said a judge on a phone call told him everything he had to face but vowed to continue performing his responsibilities with honesty.
“We received a complaint that judges are being pressurised, those who are afraid of almighty God should not be scared of blackmail,” Justice Ahmed said.
“The establishment's interference in court matters would end soon; it is my faith,” he added.
“He was the only judge to stand against a military dictator... he had made everything possible,” Justice Ahmed praised former Chief Justice Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhary.
“Lawyer moment, close the door for martial law, and fight against the interference in court matters."
