Former National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua sounded the alarm over India’s renewed war rhetoric, warning that New Delhi could attempt a similar attack on Pakistan to the one that took place in May this year.
Speaking at a seminar on defence strategy, he stated that India is well aware of Pakistan’s advanced missile system, which has the capability to defend the country’s territorial airspace against any Indian incursion.
According to him, the current political climate in India has placed pressure on the far-right BJP government, which may seek to compensate for its humiliating defeat by Pakistan through an unprovoked military assault.
He further maintained that banned militant outfits have now become Indian proxies against Pakistan, adding that India would face an even more humiliating defeat if such aggression occurs, as the Pakistan Army would bring down at least 70 of their jets.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Navy Rear Admiral (retd) NA Rizvi emphasised the need for Pakistan to operationalise the Gwadar Port, warning that the nation would otherwise continue to face looming external threats. However, he underlined the strong preparedness and effectiveness of the Pakistan Navy.
Separately, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also spoke on the escalating tensions, hinting that India could launch an attack on Pakistan, but warned that Pakistan’s response this time would be far more severe.
