The FIA has seized a large stock of smuggled and illegal medicines worth more than Rs3 million in a targeted operation in the provincial capital and arrested one suspect.
According to the deputy director of the FIA’s anti-corruption circle, Fazlur Rehman, said the agency’s team conducted the raid on a medical store in Quetta after receiving a credible information about the illegal activity.
During the operation, officers recovered a significant quantity of unregistered and smuggled medicines and took a suspect, identified as Waseem, into custody.
Rehman told reporters that initial investigations indicate the seized pharmaceuticals were illegally imported from Iran and India. The recovered stock is valued at more than Rs3 million, he added.
Furthermore, he emphasized that this action is part of the agency’s wider crackdown on illegal medicine trafficking, which poses serious risks to public health.
He warned that the FIA will continue to pursue individuals and networks involved in the distribution and sale of smuggled and unauthorized drugs.
An FIR has now been registered against the arrested suspect under the Drugs Act, and further investigations are underway to trace the source and distribution channels of the illicit medicines.
