The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) reported an increase in complaints of WhatsApp hacking across the country, with individuals falling victim to money extortion.
Notable figures, including Justice (retd) Wajihuddin and former CPLC chief Ahmed Chinoy, have also been targeted.
Additional Director FIA Amir Nawaz stated that the accused individuals involved in financial fraud are located in South Punjab.
The hackers message people on their victim's contact lists, demanding money. Innocent citizens, falling prey to these scams, send them money.
Additional Director FIA Cyber Crime Circle Aamir Nawaz said there has been an increase in complaints of WhatsApp hacking in the past few days, with 50 of them reported to the Cyber Crime Circle Karachi.
Amir Nawaz stated that they have successfully recovered the WhatsApp accounts of many victims. In this regard, the Cyber Crime Circle Multan has also been contacted, and they are working together to address these complaints.
FIA officials stated that citizens should not share their 6-digit registration code with anyone via SMS or email, and should enable two-step verification. Only allow your acquaintances to see your profile photo.
If someone you know requests money, verify it by calling them directly and avoid opening any suspicious or unsafe links.
