At least six individuals have died from rabies following dog bites in Karachi between May and August, according to a health department official.

The victims were being treated at Jinnah Hospital and Korangi Trust Hospital at the time of their deaths, with three fatalities reported at each facility.

This brings the total number of rabies-related deaths in Sindh this year to 14.

Of these, eight deaths occurred at Jinnah Hospital, while six were recorded at Korangi Trust Hospital.

In addition, hospital officials report that over 22,000 cases of dog bites have been documented across Sindh in 2023, signaling a growing public health concern.

Efforts to control the spread of rabies, particularly in urban areas like Karachi, remain a priority for health authorities.
