Police have arrested Farhan Ghani, brother of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and Sindh minister Saeed Ghani, in connection with an alleged assault on a government official in Karachi.

According to police, a case has been registered at Ferozabad Police Station under anti-terrorism provisions against Farhan Ghani and his associates. The FIR carries charges including attempted murder, issuing threats, and assault.

The complaint was lodged by Hafiz Sohail, a government employee, who reported that the incident occurred on August 22 while he was overseeing the installation of fiber optic cables on a service road near Shahrah-e-Faisal. He alleged that a group of 20 to 25 armed men arrived in three vehicles and attempted to halt the work despite being shown government-issued NOCs.

Sohail claimed that the men, allegedly led by Farhan Ghani along with others identified as Qamaruddin, Shakeel Chandio, Sikandar, and Roohan, verbally abused and physically assaulted him. The FIR further states that several men pointed weapons at him “with the intent to kill” before dragging him to a nearby petrol station, where he was beaten and confined in a room.

Police said they later reached the scene, rescued the complainant, and brought him to the police station. Further investigation into the case is under way.
