A fuel shortage is feared in Sindh and Punjab as protests against a federal canal project continue to disrupt the transportation of petroleum products.
The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) reported that approximately 800 oil tankers are stranded near Larkana and Sukkur due to road blockages caused by the demonstrations. In a letter to the Sindh chief secretary, the OCAC warned that prolonged disruption could result in a significant shortage of fuel in parts of Sindh and Punjab, urging authorities to take immediate action to restore supply routes.
The protests near the Sindh-Punjab border have also raised concerns about potential losses of up to $1.5 million, as trucks carrying perishable goods remain stuck.
