"Gen Asim works to guide army, nation toward a future with prosperity, unity," says US central command

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has received high accolades from the Journal of the US Central Command (Centcom) for his exceptional leadership and professional skills.

The journal, Unipath, recognised Pakistan's top militaryman as "a forceful voice against violent extremists" and commended his "commitment to the country's security, stability, and prosperity."

"Since his assumption of command in November 2022, Gen Asim Munir has charted a course that has spanned from resolute military actions against extremist outfits to astute military diplomacy,' it mentioned.

According to the report, Gen Asim Munir has taken "decisive action against Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), known as Fitna al Khawarij." 

"Under his leadership, through July 2024, 22,409 intelligence-based operations have been conducted against terrorists and their facilitators. They eliminated 398 terrorists, including 31 high-value targets."

The publication said that the army chief has emphasised that "terrorists must surrender to the state's authority, and Pakistan will dismantle their networks."

The journal praised COAS Asim's recognition of the challenges posed by fifth-generation warfare and his emphasis on the army's readiness to ensure Pakistan's independence. 

His ability to respond to foreign aggression was demonstrated when Pakistan successfully targeted terrorist hideouts in Tehran following Iranian missile strikes, the magazine reported.

General Munir's initiatives, such as the Special Investment Facilitation Council and the Green Pakistan Initiative, have earned recognition. 

"[...] the Army is assisting the government in the functioning of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI) to attract foreign investment and ensure food security."

"Gen Asim Munir’s proactive efforts in forging economic partnerships, including with the Arabian Gulf states and the United States, are fostering confidence within the business community and encouraging their active participation in national progress."

He has also been lauded for promoting religious harmony and protecting minorities in the country.

“There is no space for such incidents of intolerance and extreme behavior by any segment of the society against anyone, particularly against minorities,” Gen Asim was quoted by Unipath as saying.

As per the American journal, Pakistan has strengthened military and diplomatic ties with countries like the United States and engaged in joint military exercises with various nations under Gen Munir's leadership.
