Rain is likely to offer some respite to Karachiites on Thursday following a day of hot weather that touched 40.5°C yesterday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most districts of Sindh.

However, rain-windstorm and thundershowers are likely to hit isolated places in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Badin, Thatta, Karachi, Hyderabad and Sajawal today (July 18)

The downpours are likely to lash the areas mentioned above during the evening and night.

A day earlier, the port city sizzled as the feels-like temperature reached 56°C.

Almost 200 Ashura mourners fell unconscious due to extreme heat in the metropolis and were admitted to the Jinnah Hospital camp.

The maximum temperature is likely to hit 41°C in the provincial capital today, while the humidity level in the air is 80 percent.

However, the sea breeze is expected to be restored by today evening, the Met office said in its advisory.
