To counter the smear campaigns targeting the Election Commission of Pakistan and government officials on social media, the caretaker government has formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to conduct thorough inquiries.
This move comes in response to mounting concerns surrounding the proliferation of misinformation and efforts to manipulate public opinion using deceptive tactics. The caretaker government is committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring equitable and transparent elections.
Addressing the issue, a spokesperson for the caretaker government emphasized, "We cannot allow malicious actors to undermine the democratic process through deceptive means."
The JIT's mandate encompasses investigating various aspects of these nefarious activities, including the dissemination of false information on social media platforms, the production of counterfeit ballot papers, and propaganda designed to sway public sentiment.
Additionally, it has come to light that there were endeavors to influence the allegiance of government officials through an insidious campaign. The caretaker government has asserted that such actions will not be tolerated, and individuals found responsible will be swiftly and decisively dealt with.
The JIT will collaborate with IT experts to collect evidence and determine the scope of the malfeasance.
It will meticulously document cases and propose suitable measures against those accountable, ensuring accountability and fairness are upheld.
