The federal government has decided to provide electricity bill relief to flood-affected citizens. According to sources, the government is considering removing General Sales Tax (GST), FC surcharge, and fixed charges from the power bills of flood victims.
Proposals are also under review to waive GST and excise duty on fuel price adjustments, along with eliminating income tax, additional taxes, and retailer sales tax on electricity bills.
Widespread flooding in Punjab has severely damaged agricultural land, leaving thousands homeless. A day earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also urged the government to impose an agricultural emergency and waive electricity bills for farmers.
