Former Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has made explosive claims linking Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan's imprisonment to his stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Zaidi asserted that Imran Khan's vocal support for Palestine is the primary reason for his ouster from the prime minister's office in 2022.
In April 2022, the former prime minister was ousted from his office through a no-confidence motion.
"The main reason for Imran Khan's departure is linked to the current situation in the Middle East. [The] international establishment does not want any other big country, except Iran, to start emotional talks.
According to Zaidi, a picture of slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah still hangs in the room of Imran Khan's son, Kasim Khan.
The economic expert also lashed out at the Muslim countries, calling them liars and dishonest.

"It's better to normalise ties with Israel instead of them [Muslim countries], he added.
On the other hand, Jewish writer and political scientist Aynur Bashirova earlier in September said that Mr Khan could play a crucial role in normalising relations between Pakistan and Israel.
"Israel and its allies must do whatever they can to ensure that Imran Khan is free again to participate in Pakistani politics and be the voice that channels moderation," Bashirova had said in his article written for Times of Israel.
