Heatwave grips Sindh; temperature to stay above normal till May 3

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Sindh, warning that a severe spell of hot weather has begun in central and upper parts of the province and may persist until May 3.
According to the advisory, districts including Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur will remain under intense heat, with daytime temperatures expected to stay 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.
The Met Office has advised women, children and the elderly to take precautionary measures, urging the public to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours and increase water intake.
In Karachi, daytime heat is expected to persist through Thursday, with maximum temperatures likely to exceed 36°C. Humidity levels may rise up to 60 percent, making the heat feel more intense, although no heatwave conditions are currently forecast for the city.
On Tuesday, Karachi recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7°C with 58 percent humidity. In rural Sindh, the highest temperature was recorded in Mohenjo-daro at 44°C.
Other recorded temperatures included 42.5°C in Larkana; 42°C in Jacobabad, Dadu and Hyderabad (City); 41°C in Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Paddidan, Rohri and Hyderabad (Airport); while Chhor, Mithi and Sakrand recorded temperatures exceeding 40°C.
