Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has claimed that she works from 9am in the morning till 12am midnight daily to ensure the development of the province.

She made the revelation during an informal conversation with journalists in Lahore on Thursday.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the appointment of vice-chancellors, Maryam Nawaz clarified, "The governor could have rejected the objection, but he wants to appoint his own vice-chancellor." 

"Vice-Chancellors must be appointed on merit, and I am working only on merit."

Pakistan's largest province's first woman CM also noted that the entire issue belongs to the University of Punjab in Lahore.

CM Maryam said that she receives numerous recommendations from MNAs and MPAs but she "focuses on merit-based decisions".

Nawaz Sharif's daughter also announced to install body cameras on police uniforms to record their interactions with the public and to curb bribery in the law enforcement department, 

"No police officer will perform duty without this uniform," she noted.

Moreover, she revealed that massive progress has been made in preventing drug trafficking in colleges and universities.

"Big gangs of drug peddlers have been caught; they used to bring and sell drugs in different forms on their private jets."

The Chief Minister also highlighted the success of initiatives like 'Clinic on Wheels', which have benefited hundreds in rural areas of the province.

She mentioned that the Kissan Card and Tractor programs received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of thousands of people applying to grab the opportunity.
