Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, strongly criticised India’s attempts to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, calling the move irrational and dangerous.
During an interview with Al Jazeera, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif highlighted the strategic advantage and resilience of Pakistan’s armed forces in the face of recent hostilities.
“We have taught the Indian army a lesson it will never forget,” the DG ISPR said. “Our military response strategies will be studied for decades.”
Regarding the outcome of the recent conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, Lieutenant General Chaudhry that he believes victory belongs to Allah. Let the international community, impartial observers, and the world decide who truly prevailed, he said while saying that the joy and pride on the faces of the people in Pakistan speak volumes.
The army spokesperson further emphasised that Pakistan’s success was not limited to the battlefield. India’s lies, aggression, and pressure tactics have been exposed globally. This conflict has shown that the truth can withstand false narratives.
He also addressed the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident, accusing India of fabricating a false narrative.

DG ISPR stated that if Indian authorities have any credible evidence of Pakistani involvement, they should present it to a neutral third party for an independent investigation but New Delhi has failed to do so and remains silent to this day
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said that the courage and competence of the Pakistan Army had not only thwarted Indian objectives but also deepened the military’s bond with the people.
He reminded that the Indus Water Treaty, brokered by the World Bank in 1960 after lengthy negotiations, allocated three rivers to Pakistan and three to India, despite all six flowing from Kashmir, a disputed territory under United Nations resolutions.
He said that if India refuses to honor this treaty, it should remember that Kashmir is still a disputed region, adding, if the people of Kashmir choose to join Pakistan, then all six rivers will rightfully belong to Pakistan, and India will face the consequences.
