The Islamabad High Court (IHC) expressed displeasure over the federal government's failure to submit a report in the case concerning the repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq of the IHC presided over the hearing on a petition filed by Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui.
Justice Sardar remarked that the court had requested a report on the reasons behind the government's refusal to assist the U.S. court, but no report was submitted.
“If the report is not presented, I will summon the entire cabinet. Why shouldn’t contempt of court proceedings be initiated against the federal ministers?” he questioned.
He further stated that the court would not hesitate to take action against not just the cabinet, but also the Prime Minister. “The court had sought a response back in June,” he added.

Addressing the Additional Attorney General, the court demanded that the report be submitted within three days.
In response, the Additional Attorney General requested an extension until next week, asking for five working days. However, Justice Sardar Ejaz pointed out, “My annual leave begins next week.”
Despite this, the court granted the Additional Attorney General's request for more time and extended the deadline until next week.
During the proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel informed the court of a separate application regarding a proposed meeting between Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui and the Prime Minister. Justice Sardar questioned the need for the meeting, stating, “What will Fouzia Siddiqui achieve by meeting the Prime Minister? Is the Prime Minister not already aware?”
Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing until July 21 on the request of the Additional Attorney General.
