Lawyer Imaan Mazari, her husband arrested in Islamabad “for creating security risk”

Advocate and human rights activist Imaan Mazari was arrested along with her husband, Hadi Ali from Islamabad, Shireen Mazari confirmed on Monday.
The couple is accused of assaulting a security official at a security checkpoint in Islamabad a few days ago.
Imaan's mother Shireen Mazari shared a post on her X handle, stating, "Imaan Mazari has been arrested this morning. State fascism in full swing."

The couple was arrested by Aabpara Police, where they had been booked for interfering with security protocols set for the English cricket team.
Islamabad police said the couple was detained “for creating a security risk.”

Previously, a viral video showed prominent lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari and her husband attempting to remove the barriers on a road in Islamabad.
A confrontation occurred between traffic police and both lawyers regarding road blockades established for the traffic protocol associated with the visiting England cricket team.
According to the sources, the incident appeared at zero point where Mazari and her husband lashed and threatened the policeman for dire consequences.
The police said that the couple had violated the SOPs of state guests. The authorities had expressed the intention of filing cases against them for interfering in the government matters.
However, Geo News quoted Imaan Mazari as saying, “I have not violated any law, and no one can stop me from crossing the road.”
Imaan said that she immediately wanted to reach the court, adding, “No force can stop me from performing my professional duties.”
