Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan said US President Donald Trump and Iran will ultimately reach a ceasefire and work toward de-escalating tensions in the Middle East. He asserted, however, that Pakistan’s priority should be addressing its internal challenges.
Commenting on the unfolding regional crisis, Imran Khan said, “Iran is a resilient nation. We should learn from them how to stand firm for our rights and never bow to external pressure.”
Highlighting Pakistan’s position, he stressed that while global powers may eventually settle their disputes, it is Pakistan’s foremost responsibility to focus on safeguarding its own national interests and stability.
US President Donald Trump announced the enforcement of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel after 12-day war.
Meanwhile, Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian said the country will respect a ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump, provided that Israel also upholds its terms, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reports.
In a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Pezeshkian says if Israel "does not violate the ceasefire, Iran will not violate it".
"The Iranian people have once again shown that despite some problems and grievances, they will stand united and united against the enemy's invasion until the end," he says.
