Imran Khan will get eye treatment from specialist of his choice; Tariq Fazal Chaudhry

Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that former PM Imran Khan would be taken “wherever he prefers” for medical treatment, assuring there would be “no negligence” regarding his health after reports of serious vision loss came out.

The statement came a day after the SC was told Khan has only about 15% vision left in his right eye, according to a report submitted by his lawyer. 

Moreover, the SC ordered authorities to form a medical team to examine him and ensure both the examination and a phone call with his children takes place before February 16. 

It was reported that Khan complained of blurred vision for months and alleges prison officials ignored his requests for treatment. However, authorities denied this allegation, claiming that he was given due medical attention whenever needed.

According to medical documents cited in court, he was diagnosed with a retinal vein blockage that can cause rapid vision loss. 

Opposition parties and allies have criticized authorities and announced protests demanding access to his personal doctors and independent specialists for his eye treatment.
