Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that India is preparing false-flag operations at sea, but Pakistan's response would be severe any new attack.
Speaking informally to journalists in Peshawar, the army spokesman insisted Pakistan has had enough of cross-border terrorism originating from Afghanistan and said Islamabad will not beg the Afghan Taliban for security.
“We will establish peace by the force of power; Afghanistan must act against terrorists on its soil or hand them over to us,” he said, adding that there is no representative government in Kabul and that Pakistan supports a government there that represents the people.
The DG ISPR described Afghanistan as a hub of international terrorism, saying various terrorist groups operate inside Afghanistan and that the country is exporting terrorism to neighboring states.
On provincial relations, he said the Corps Commander Peshawar met the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under official state protocols. He dismissed talk of imposing governor’s rule in the province as a political decision to be taken by the government, not the military.
Reiterating the military’s stance on politics, Lt. Gen. Chaudhry said, “The army does not want to be entangled in politics — keep it away from politics. We do not want to do politics; if others drag us in, that is their strategy.”
He again stressed that any deployment of forces to secure peace in Gaza would be a decision for the government and parliament.
Commenting on security in Khyber district, he warned of a nexus between political elements, criminals and drug mafias, saying drug money is being used to fuel terrorism in Khyber agency and noting that Tirah has witnessed the highest number of terrorist incidents.
Summarizing counter-terror operations during 2025, the DG ISPR said security forces carried out more than 62,000 operations, during which 1,667 terrorists were killed.
He added that 206 security personnel were martyred in terrorist attacks. In clashes, security forces reportedly killed 206 Afghan Taliban fighters and over 100 members of Fitna al-Khawarij (an extremist group).
