Iran has offered to help ease the rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan by facilitating talks and supporting diplomatic engagement between the two neighbors.
The Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized the importance of dialogue and restraint amid ongoing clashes along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.
Araghchi claimed that continued hostilities could lead to destabilization across the broader region, and that Iran stood ready to provide “good offices” and assistance to support constructive talks.
Furthermore, he highlighted that Ramadan serves as a time for restraint and solidarity among Muslim nations and that differences should be settled through neighborly dialogue rather than conflict.
Iran’s offer aligns with earlier diplomatic efforts by Qatar and Turkey to host peace talks for restoring stability along the Durand Line frontier.
Iran’s proposal comes amid an ongoing escalation between Pakistan and the Taliban-run Afghan authorities after cross-border clashed and retaliatory strikes in recent months.
Regional diplomats have increasingly called for de-escalation to prevent a wider conflict that could undermine security throughout South and Central Asia.
