A joint team of Mianwali and Islamabad police conducted a raid at the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) General Secretary Omar Ayub Khan in Islamabad’s F-10 sector, but they failed to arrest him as he was not present at the location.
The raid was in connection with an anti-terrorism case filed against Omar Ayub Khan. The Sargodha Anti-Terrorism Court had issued warrants for his arrest, prompting the law enforcement action.
Omar Ayub Khan confirmed the raid on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the Sargodha ATC had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against him. He noted that the Islamabad and Mianwali police conducted the raid in response to these warrants.
The opposition leader further alleged that the federal and provincial governments, in collaboration with their agencies, are attempting to arrest him due to his involvement in the “Form 47” campaign. This campaign is described as a political maneuver aimed at destabilizing the current government.
Omar Ayub Khan asserted that despite these actions, the PTI’s struggle for Imran Khan’s return to the Prime Minister’s office will continue.
He emphasized that the efforts to arrest him are part of a broader attempt to suppress political opposition and undermine the PTI's activities.
The "Form 47" campaign, which Omar Ayub Khan referenced, has been a focal point of contention between PTI and the current government. Supporters of PTI view it as a legitimate political strategy, while critics argue it is an attempt to create instability.
The raid on Omar Ayub Khan's residence has further fueled tensions between PTI and government authorities.
