The Karachi administration has imposed a temporary ban on sea bathing under Section 144, citing safety concerns due to high tides and strong waves during the Eidul Azha holidays.

According to an official notification issued late Friday night, the ban will remain in effect from June 6 to June 13, and strict action will be taken against those violating the order.

Authorities warned citizens to avoid visiting the beach for swimming or bathing during this period, urging them to prioritise safety, especially as large crowds are expected to head to the seaside to celebrate Eidul Azha.

The decision came amid forecasts of high tides and rough sea conditions along Karachi’s coastline, increasing the risk of accidents and drowning incidents.

Law enforcement agencies, including police and Rangers, are expected to be deployed at major beaches like Clifton, Hawksbay, and Sandspit to ensure compliance with the ban and prevent any untoward incidents.

The city administration appealed to the public to cooperate and celebrate Eid responsibly by following safety guidelines.

Earlier, the Sindh government released a formal code of conduct for the collection of sacrificial animal hides during Eidul Azha by introducing stringent regulations to ensure order, transparency, and security during the religious occasion.

According to an official notification issued by the authorities, organisations and individuals must obtain prior approval from the respective Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner before engaging in hide collection activities.

It said that only registered welfare organisations, madrasssahs, and charitable institutions will be eligible to collect skin and other hides of sacrificial animals.
