Karachi’s e-challan system appears to be in disarray as a local resident was issued five traffic e-tickets totalling Rs50,000 in a single day.

Citizen Hakeemullah said that he received five e-challans that were generated on October 30, with three of them issued at the same location, while the remaining two were from another site.

He said the first three fines were recorded at 12:03pm in Mauripur, while the fourth and fifth were issued at 12:13pm near Hassan Square.

All five violations were cited for the same offence — not wearing a seatbelt.

The citizen expressed frustration, saying the fines even included timestamps, and the total amount reached Rs. 50,000, leaving him stunned.

A spokesperson for the Traffic Police confirmed that contact had been made with the citizen. He was advised to visit the facilitation center, where his challans will be reviewed. The police added that since it was his first offence, the fines would likely be waived.
