After light showers in different parts of Karachi early Monday morning, the weather turned pleasant. However, the Meteorological Department has forecast up to 100 millimeters of rainfall in the port city today, with intermittent showers continuing throughout the day.

Light rain has been reported in several areas, including Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Defence, Clifton, Saddar, Korangi, Landhi, University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, and Malir.

According to the Met Office, 4 to 6 spells of rain accompanied by strong winds are expected in Karachi. The department has also warned of urban flooding in low-lying areas due to heavy downpours.

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has urged citizens to remain cautious. “People should avoid leaving their homes, offices, or factories during heavy rain as unnecessary rush at different points creates chaos,” he said while speaking to the media.

The Met Department further predicted rainfall in various districts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Badin, Sukkur, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sujawal, Larkana, Ghotki, and Jacobabad.

Authorities have also warned of flooding in low-lying and coastal areas of Sindh, with cities such as Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Sukkur, and Larkana at particular risk.

Meanwhile, the water level at Hub Dam is expected to rise due to the ongoing rainfall.
