Karachi police detain over 10 undocumented Afghan nationals in a late night raid

In a late night operation on Tuesday, police officials in Karachi’s East District detained more than ten Afghan nationals who were supposedly living in Pakistan without valid documentation. The raid took place in the authority of the Sachal Police Station. 

According to police sources, a large security force was deployed for this purpose, as they sealed the entry and exit points and conducted house-to-house searches in a residential building located on Abul Hasan Isphahani Road

During the operation, residents were asked to present identity documents and their details were checked, which led to the detention of several Afghan nationals whose credentials were reportedly incomplete or invalid. 

Officials said the detainees were taken to the police station for further verification, including checks of criminal records and immigration status.

The raid is part of a broader crackdown by law enforcement agencies in Karachi targeting undocumented foreign nationals, particularly Afghan residents, who are believed to be involved in illegal stay or criminal activity. 

This raid is preceded by several similar raids across Karachi, where hundreds of Afghan nationals have previously been detained under the country’s migrants and foreigners regulatory framework.

Authorities say such operations are part of a recurring effort to enforce immigration rules and maintain law and order in the city. 

Residents in the affected area reported that officials asked the public for cooperation with security forces to help identify individuals residing without valid documentation. As this verification proceeds, it remains unclear what the next steps will be for those detained, but legal and immigration processes are expected to follow.
