To maintain public safety and ensure smooth traffic flow during Muharram processions, Karachi Police has announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram 1447 Hijri, corresponding to July 4, 5, and 6, 2025.
According to the Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic), the central procession will begin at Nishtar Park and conclude at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah, following its traditional route.
In view of security measures, MA Jinnah Road will remain completely closed from Guru Mandir to Tower during the procession hours.
Citizens commuting across the city are advised to use alternate routes, as per the district-wise traffic plan:
District Central:
From Nazimabad: Use Lasbela Chowk and proceed to Nishtar Road via Garden.
From Liaquatabad: Take Teen Hatti toward either Lasbela or Martin Road.
From Hassan Square: Use the Jail Flyover underpass to reach Kashmir Road and Society Signal.
District East:
From Shahrah-e-Faisal: Use Society Signal and Kashmir Road to reach the Numaish area.
From Central Jail Gate: Follow Bahadur Yar Jang Road and Soldier Bazaar to navigate through the area.
District South:
From Garden Zoo: Motorists can take the route through Uncle Saria, Gul Plaza, Coast Guard, and Holy Family Hospital.
Authorities have urged the public to follow the designated routes, avoid the procession paths, and cooperate with law enforcement personnel to ensure a peaceful and secure environment during Muharram.
