KARACHI: To guarantee optimal security measures for the forthcoming International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024, the deputy inspector general (DIG) Traffic has requested the closure of schools in Karachi.
According to the information, DIG Traffic has sent a letter to the Karachi commissioner, asking for schools in the vicinity of Sharah-e-Faisal and Karsaz to be closed during IDEAS 2024.
The correspondence indicated that the operation of schools during the IDEAS 2024 would hinder traffic flow, hence the request to suspend school activities in Karachi from November 19 to 22.
The defense exhibition, an important global event, requires strict security and traffic control measures, with school closures anticipated to alleviate congestion in the area.
The International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024 is set to commence from November 19 to 22 at the Karachi Expo Centre.
The government of Pakistan places significant importance on IDEAS. The exhibition draws many delegates and is viewed as a means to bolster the country's own arms trade.
The inaugural IDEAS took place in 2000, aimed at promoting Pakistan’s domestic arms manufacturing and providing a platform for international vendors to showcase solutions to the needs of Pakistan's tri-services.
Always held at the Karachi Expo Centre, the first iteration of the event attracted delegations from forty-five foreign countries.
