Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Javed Alam Odho on Monday issued a stern warning to citizens using illegal or fake vehicle number plates, announcing that strict action will be taken without discrimination.
In an official statement, AIG Odho said Karachi police will launch a crackdown against all vehicles and motorcycles found with unauthorised or counterfeit plates. He advised residents to ensure their number plates are corrected by December 5, warning that vehicles with illegal plates will be seized after the deadline.

It is noteworthy that the deadline for replacing Sindh’s traditional Ajrak-style number plates was earlier extended until Dec 31.
Meanwhile, the Excise Department said that approximately 6.5 million motorcycles are registered across Sindh, with Karachi alone accounting for over 3.3 million of them.
The crackdown comes as reports surface that many citizens, attempting to evade e-challan penalties, have installed fake number plates on their cars and motorcycles since the activation of the city’s electronic ticketing system.
