Karachi is experiencing a severe cold snap, with strong winds driving temperatures down and bringing a biting chill to the port city.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated on Monday that a minimum temperature of 10°C was recorded in Karachi.

However, the strong winds blowing from the northeast direction at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour intensified the cold, making it feel even colder than the actual temperature.

Sharing today's forecast, the Met Office said the weather is expected to remain cold and dry, with intermittent strong winds.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz predicted a decline in temperature. He stated that temperatures would remain in a range between 9°C and 11°C in the afternoon as the winds are anticipated to become stronger during the day.

The port city has been experiencing low temperatures for six to seven days, and this cold spell is expected to continue until January 17 due to the presence of wind chill, according to the Met Chief.

Apart from this, the weather in Quetta and its surroundings is partly cloudy and cold. The Chief Meteorologist stated that rain is likely in most areas of Balochistan after January 20.

He added that the weather is likely to be cold and dry in most districts of Balochistan, while it is expected to be extremely cold in mountainous areas.

Sardar Sarfaraz stated that there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
