Pakistan to host South Asian Games from April 3 to 11 next year

The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council has approved the schedule for the South Asian Games, which will be held in Pakistan from April 3 to 11 next year.
The Games will feature competitions in 28 men’s and 25 women’s sports, with more than 4,200 athletes and officials from member countries expected to participate. A total of 346 gold medals will be contested during the Games, with events scheduled to take place in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar.
Pakistan Olympic Association President Arif Saeed said that Pakistan was ready to host the Games and that the government was providing full support to ensure their successful organisation.
He said all efforts would be made to make the South Asian Games a memorable event.
The schedule was approved during a meeting of the Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council in Islamabad.
Delegations from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives attended the meeting, while POA Secretary Khalid Mahmood and officials from the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination were also present.
The Indian delegation participated in the meeting via video link.
