The port city is likely to experience another heat spell from Monday (July 15), weather analyst Jawad Memon said on Saturday.

The metropolis received respite from searing temperatures after a brief spell of monsoon rains hit Karachi earlier this week.

However, the city is expected to witness a rise in temperature by up to 3°C after two days. The feels-like temperature is likely to hover between 40-45 degree Celsius.

According to the weatherman, the mercury will shoot up due to a possible decrease in the speed of the sea breezes, which were restored last week, after the formation of a low-pressure area.

However, a rain system is expected to affect the southern parts of the country, including Karachi, between July 16 and 18, Memon added.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted heavy rains in the megapolis after July 20, offering hope for some relief from the heat.

In the last heatwave that ended on June 30, the weather conditions were the hottest since the 2015 heatwave as the feels-like temperature surged past 50°C.

The ever-highest temperature of the month of June in Karachi was recorded at 47°C on June 18, 1979.
