Karachi briefly became the most polluted city in the world on Monday with an air quality index (AQI) of 278, according to the Swiss Company IQAir that monitors air quality.
Two provincial capitals of the country featured on the list of the most polluted cities in the world.
Karachi topped the list of the most polluted cities while Lahore was ranked sixth with an AQI of 177.
Hours later, Dhaka overtook Karachi as the world's most polluted city as the port city stood third in the AQI.
An AQI reading in the range of 151-200 is considered 'unhealthy,' while an AQI reading between 201 and 300 is more detrimental to health.
The AQI measures data from 109 countries and readings change hourly.
Furthermore, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the port city’s forecast indicates a maximum temperature of 26 to 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 14 to 16 degrees Celsius, with 73% humidity and light northeast winds.
Karachi is expected to have dry and cool weather in the next 24 hours.
