Iran signals pause in attacks after US halts bombing campaign

Iran has said it will suspend its military operations as long as the United States maintains its pause on airstrikes.

The statement follows a temporary halt in US strikes after Washington carried out 13 consecutive nights of air attacks on Iran. 

The Pentagon reportedly paused the campaign late Friday, with no US strikes reported over the weekend. 

Iran, which had responded to previous US attacks with strikes on neighboring countries hosting American military bases, also refrained from further attacks during the pause.

According to an Iranian official, Tehran’s position remains “attack for attack,” adding that Iran would stop its operations if US attacks cease. 

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said President Donald Trump paused the strikes to provide more room for diplomacy.
