After weeks of grey skies and humid weather, light rainfall early Sunday morning brought a pleasant change to Karachi's weather.

Light rain was reported in multiple areas, including Malir, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal Colony, North Karachi, New Karachi, Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, II Chundrigar Road, PIDC, Saddar, and Burns Road.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the highest rainfall was recorded on University Road at 2.3 millimetres, followed by 2mm at the airport, PAF Base Faisal, and Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

Korangi and Jinnah Terminal recorded 1.4mm of rainfall, while Keamari and Surjani Town received just 0.2mm.

The light showers arrived as the PMD forecast moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thundershowers for the city in the coming days, with daytime temperatures expected to range between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office further stated that another monsoon system may impact Sindh by the end of July.

A day earlier, the Sindh government cancelled local government holidays and activated emergency response measures in anticipation of the expected monsoon spell in Karachi.
