SIALKOT: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) central leader Khawaja Asif has sent a Rs1 billion defamation notice to former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar and his mother.
The notice stated that Dar and his mother levelled false allegations to defame Asif. The defamation notice called on Dar and his mother, Rehana Dar, to pay Rs1 billion in damages within 14 days.
Last week, Sialkot police conducted a late-night raid on the residence of ex- SAPM Usman Dar, reportedly subjecting his mother to alleged harassment.
Usman Dar's mother's video statement went viral on social media, wherein she recounted her distressing experience and accused former defense minister Khwaja Asif of orchestrating the raid to prevent her from submitting nomination papers for the upcoming elections.
In a furious video statement, Dar's mother alleged, "I am a 70-year-old mother who was asleep when Khawaja Asif orchestrated another attack on my house. They forcibly entered, harassed me, broke the door, removed my chaadar, and pulled my hair."
"I am determined to submit my nomination papers to the election commission, and this decision comes from my heart."
She appealed to the voters of Sialkot to bear witness to the injustice being inflicted upon her.
