Uzair Baloch, the leader of Peoples' Aman Committee, once again clear charges of arms trafficking from Balochistan.
He has previously repeatedly been linked to illegal arms trafficking, including rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), explosive devices, rifles, and ammunition smuggled from Balochistan and elsewhere.
A case was filed against him in 2012 as well having similar charges of illegal arms and explosives being supplied to him and his partner Baba Ladla. Prosecution claimed that many suspects confessed to bringing weapons from Balochistan to supply to him.
However, recently, in August 2025, a Judicial Magistrate in Karachi cleared Uzair Baloch, saying there was no solid evidence against the charges implied on him.
The court ordered for him to be released deeming him innocent of any grave crime. This pattern has been repetitive, Baloch has been accused and then cleared in many criminal cases, including several involving illegal weapons, charges of murder, and police-encounters.
Legal authorities argue that Baloch’s repeated acquittals reflect the influence of powerful figures in our judicial system.
While Uzair Baloch has long been accused of trafficking weapons, the courts have, so far, failed to sustain those charges, maybe due to “lack of evidence,” questioning the rule of law and accountability for the powerful.
