PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has sanctioned a compensation package for the victims of the D-Chowk incident.
Barrister Dr. Saif, the Adviser on Information for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, announced that the provincial cabinet has approved financial support for the martyrs and those injured in the D-Chowk tragedy.
Under the terms of the approved package, families of the deceased will receive Rs10 million each, while those who were injured will be compensated with Rs1 million.
Dr. Saif confirmed that funds have already been allocated for the families of confirmed martyrs, and the verification process for additional victims is currently underway, ensuring that their families will also receive compensation once confirmed.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that the party distances itself from claims of hundreds of fatalities during the D-Chowk protest.
Speaking outside Adiala Jail, he mentioned that he had met with the PTI founder, who directed the party to bring this issue to Parliament and advocate for it in both the Senate and National Assembly.
In response to speculation regarding the PTI founder’s health, Gohar reassured that he is in good health and remains in Adiala Jail.
Claims regarding his absence or deteriorating health are unfounded. Gohar also updated him on the protest situation and the loss of 12 PTI members, noting that the founder was previously unaware of these developments.
