PESHAWAR: In light of escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) between Pakistan and India, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has installed modern emergency warning sirens across 29 districts of the province.
According to a notification issued by the Directorate of Civil Defence, the initiative aims to provide early warnings to the public in case of aerial attacks or potential wartime threats, enabling residents to take timely protective measures.
The new sirens are equipped to produce high-decibel alerts capable of reaching wide areas, serving as a critical component of the province's emergency preparedness and response system.
Sirens have been installed in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Mardan, Kohat, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Malakand, Lower Dir, Lower Chitral, Kurram, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Bajaur, Haripur, Mansehra, Upper Dir, Shangla, Buner, Lakki Marwat, Khyber, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Battagram, Tank, and Orakzai.

Civil Defence officials have urged public to remain calm during alerts, refrain from spreading rumors, and follow only official guidelines issued by the authorities.
Any misuse or mocking of the warning sirens has been strictly discouraged, with officials underscoring that the system is designed solely for the protection of lives and property in times of crisis.
This proactive measure reflects the KP government's commitment to public safety amid a rapidly evolving security environment in the region.
