Pakistani Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah highly appreciated Pakistan’s role as a mediator in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran in a phone conversation held with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
This was according to a statement released by the Foreign Office (FO) regarding the meeting.
"The FM thanked Pakistan’s continued mediating role and its efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran and acknowledged its constructive role in promoting regional peace and security," said the statement.
Pakistan, through its foreign minister, reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the cause of promoting peaceful dialogue and engagement to achieve lasting peace in the region.
"Both sides hoped for a positive outcome in the ongoing diplomatic processes, leading to sustainable peace in the near future," the statement read.
It was further added that both sides reaffirmed the warm fraternal relations that existed between their two countries.
Pakistan had found its place among the facilitators in the delicate diplomatic process in the form of an “honest broker” between the highly polarised positions of Washington and Tehran.
The war began in February 2026 when US and Israeli strikes targeted Iranian military infrastructure. Iran retaliated across the region and closed the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a global energy shock. By early April, Trump was threatening to destroy Iranian civilisation entirely, deadlines set for March 21, then March 23, then April 7, as diplomats scrambled for an opening.
