LAHORE: The Lahore Traffic Police has submitted its final recommendations to the court for the stricter implementation of traffic regulations, as the existing e-challan system has failed to deter traffic violations.
According to traffic officials, despite imposing fines amounting to Rs5.75 billion on traffic rule violators, the number of infractions continues to rise, highlighting the ineffectiveness of the current enforcement system.
They attributed this failure to the lack of a transparent and efficient mechanism for e-challan implementation, which has resulted in many fines going unpaid.

To enhance compliance, the traffic department has proposed several key measures, including:
Salary deductions for government employees
Blocking CNICs of traffic violaers.
Impounding vehicles with 10 violations
Full implementation of traffic rules
Traffic authorities emphasized that without a comprehensive and transparent mechanism, ensuring complete recovery of e-challan fines would remain a challenge.
They urged the court to support the implementation of these measures to improve traffic discipline in the city.
The final decision on these recommendations now rests with the court, and if approved, these measures could significantly impact traffic management and enforcement in Lahore.
