Lesco guard suspended for assaulting elderly woman at Wapda office in Sheikhupura

The Power Division took swift action after a video went viral showing a Lesco security guard assaulting an elderly woman at the Wapda Complex in Sheikhupura. The incident sparked outrage on social media, prompting authorities to respond immediately.
According to official sources, the Lesco guard involved in the incident has been suspended, and an FIR has been registered against him. The guard is currently in police custody, and further disciplinary action is underway.
“Lawbreaking and the public’s humiliation will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” a spokesperson for the Power Division said.
The disturbing incident took place when the elderly woman visited the Wapda office to resolve an issue with her electricity bill. Eyewitnesses and footage showed the guard dragging her out of the office, despite her repeated pleas.
The Power Division issued a formal apology to the elderly woman and other consumers, stating, “Electricity consumers are highly respected by us. We deeply regret this individual’s misconduct.

All distribution companies (DISCOs) across the country have now been instructed to review and reinforce public handling protocols. Additionally, departmental proceedings have been initiated to permanently dismiss the security guard from service.
The spokesperson confirmed that an internal inquiry report has been ordered and must be completed within three days.
The incident has drawn criticism online, with many demanding accountability and better treatment of citizens at public service offices.
